First-Time ENCOUNTER

The ABC's of Encountering God

A-Admit you are a sinner

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23, NIV)

B-Believe Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross and rose from the dead.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8, NIV)

"Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead." (Romans 10:9b, NIV)

C-Confess Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

"That is you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord, ' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9, NIV)

"And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for his who died for them and was raised again. (2 Corinthians 5:15, NIV)

Savior = Jesus saves you from the penalty of sin by dying in your place.

Lord = You make a conscience decision to start living your life in obedience to Jesus.

There is nothing magical about this prayer. It only carries meaning if you are sincere.

Take time to read and think about this prayer before you actually pray.

"Heavenly Father, I have sinned against you. I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. Father, I give you my life to do with as you wish. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen."
